BAGHDAD – Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldiers detained two suspected criminals and discovered a weapons cache Nov. 17 in southern Baghdad's Rashid district.
At approximately 1 p.m. in the Risalah community, Soldiers from Company D, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, MND-B, struck a roadside bomb and detained two suspected criminals believed responsible for the attack.
Responding to a tip, Soldiers from Co. D, 4th Bn., 64th Armor Regt. attached to 1st Bn., 22nd Inf. Regt., 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B, discovered a weapons cache consisting of four hand grenades and three sticks of plastic explosives in the Bayaa neighborhood at approximately 8:15 p.m. An explosive ordinance disposal arrived to safely handle the munitions.
"Thanks to the local Iraqi heroes that provide us with tips, we are able to track down many of the criminals and their weapons caches," said Maj. Dave Olson, 1st BCT Spokesman, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B. "The 1st 'Raider' Brigade continues to conduct full-spectrum operations working closely with the Iraqi security forces as they assume the primary role for security in southern Baghdad."
