Ullr Shield 2018: Marines operate UH-1Y Venom helicopters during training at Fort McCoy

Marine Corps UH-1Y Venom helicopters as well as a CH-53E Super Stallion aircraft were at the installation for the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing's Ullr Shield exercise for training on Jan. 24, 2018, at Fort McCoy, Wis.

The helicopters and their crews participated in a variety of training scenarios, including being refueled at the forward air refueling point and Young Air Assault Strip on Fort McCoy's South Post.

Ullr Shield is a training exercise designed to improve 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s capabilities in extreme cold-weather environments from early January to early February 2018.

The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing is headquartered at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C.

Hundreds of Marines participated in the exercise at Fort McCoy.
