Spc. Jarod Dye is a member of the 121st Public Affairs Detachment where he acts as a photojournalist. He is a Maine National Guard Soldier who has made great strides in his photography and writing over the last year. In 2017 he wrote 16 news stories and 1 feature story and uploaded 88 photos to DVIDS. In 2017 Dye went on upward of 10 solo missions collecting and processing imagery and stories. His work has been published in GX Magazine, on the national Army website, and many times in the Maine National Guard Bayonet Magazine. Recently Dye has assisted in the layout and design in creating the Bayonet Magazine. His interview skills are dynamic and really reach the core of the information he is looking for. His ability to search for and find the Army’s stories are continually improving. Dye has taken numerous Department of the Army official photos and has improved his administrative skills while in the unit. His increasing knowledge of Army and military topics will continue to make his stories deeper, more interesting, and more informative. When Dye isn’t working for the Guard he is a full time business student at the University of Maine working towards his bachelor’s degree and currently holds a 3.81 GPA. Dye stays active on campus by holding a position on the Interfraternity Council Executive Board where he runs social media accounts representing Greek life on campus. Dye is always looking to improve himself as a Soldier, athlete, and as a public affairs professional.
