Task Force Southeast conducted a 9/11 Memorial ceremony to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice since the attacks on September 11, 2001. The area surrounding Advising Platform Lightning in Gardez, Afghanistan is very significant as the 9/11 attacks were originally planned in this remote area. The Task Force Southeast Military Advisory Team led by Lieutenant Colonel John Avera and the Police Advisory Team led by Major Kevin Nicklay render honors during the playing of Taps.
