ELLINGTON FIELD JOINT RESERVE BASE, Texas. ( Dec. 12, 2017) - Charles A. Brawner, the mayor of Katy, Texas, presented a "Above and Beyond" certificate of recognition for Harvey's Heroes to Col. Scott M. MacLeod, the commander of the 136th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Texas National Guard, Dec. 11, 2017, at Katy City Hall, Texas.
The commander was recognized for the military efforts that assisted citizens throughout the Katy area during the high waters Hurricane Harvey left.
“The city of Katy is blessed and thankful for the efforts lead by Col. MacLeod after the devastation we received,” said Brawner.
MacLeod lead the Joint Task Force Harvey Headquarters out of Katy High School during the military’s response to help save lives.
“The role that the city of Katy played in supporting Joint Task Force Harvey and all operations occurring along the Gulf Coast, allowed us to move quickly and effectively during our initial response,” said MacLeod. “On behalf of the Texas National Guard, we are very thankful to the city of Katy and all of its citizens for their generosity and kindness they extended towards our Soldiers and Airmen.”
The Joint Task Force Harvey Headquarters was responsible for command and control of all ground forces operating in the joint operational area, which extended from Corpus Christi, Texas, to the Louisiana border.
