LAKE CHARLES, La. – Soldiers from F Forward Support Company, 199th Support Battalion in Lake Charles, La., participated in assembling the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall on Oct. 8, 2008.
The wall is a replica that has been traveling the country since 1990, allowing millions of visitors the chance to see and touch its black, mirror-like surface inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 Americans who died or remain missing in Vietnam.
"It's an honor to be helping out with the Vietnam Wall," said Spc. Shatonya S. Roberts a supply specialist from Lake Charles, La., with the support company.
The wall made its way from Hammond, La., stopping in Scott and Iowa, La., on its way to Lake Charles, where it will be on display at the Veterans Memorial Park, Oct. 10-12.
"It makes me proud to be a Soldier when I see all the names of Soldiers who gave there all for the freedoms we have today," said Sgt. 1st Class John P. McCloskey, the supply sergeant of the company also from Lake Charles, La.
