Acting Army Secretary, Senator, visit 405th AFSB

MANNHEIM, Germany – Acting Secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy and U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) toured the 405th Army Field Support Brigade’s Army Prepositioned Stock located at Coleman Work Site, Aug. 31.

The tour offered McCarthy and Moran insight into the importance of the Coleman APS location, highlighting its speed of assembly capabilities and how the location supports European assurance through demonstrations of logistical readiness. Moran also serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee as the chairman of the Subcommittee for Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies.

Col. Rodney Honeycutt, 405th commander, briefed the visitors.

“18,000 pieces of equipment come to Coleman and the end results are at showroom standards,” he said.

Soldiers from the 66th Transportation Company briefed McCarthy and Moran, during the site visit, regarding progression of their heavy equipment transportation vehicles. They showed specifics on the vehicles that help improve their missions.

“What takes place here is truly a display of Excellence,” said Maj. Gen. Timothy McGuire, US Army-Europe, deputy commanding general.

The Coleman APS site is currently one of seven APS sites located in the U.S. Army’s European theater, all of which offer nation-level leaders with strategic defensive options in a time of crisis against foreign adversaries. The APS sites are considered the first visible sign of guaranteed security and a display of enhanced forward presence as the United States and NATO allies continue to transition from assurance to deterrence.
