AMC enterprise welcomes new commanders, civilian leaders

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- Army Materiel Command welcomed several new leaders at the command’s headquarters and subordinate organizations this summer.

Maj. Gen. Daniel G. Mitchell was assigned as the AMC Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics and Operations, G-3/4, June 1. In that role, he provides direction for AMC logistics plans in support of worldwide operations. Mitchell previously served as the deputy commanding general for support at Army Installation Management Command, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.

AMC also welcomed two new commanders at subordinate organizations. Col. Heidi Hoyle assumed command of Joint Munitions Command and Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command July 18. As commander, Hoyle provides life cycle management for the production, storage, distribution and demilitarization of conventional ammunition for all U.S. military services.

Maj. Gen. Duane Gamble assumed command of Army Sustainment Command July 25. ASC serves as AMC’s integration arm, providing the Army and joint forces with worldwide equipment, maintenance and logistics solutions.

Within the Senior Executive Service in AMC’s G-3/4, leadership changes include the promotion of Nate Godwin to principal deputy for Operations and Logistics Jan. 8. Godwin previously served as the director of the Current Operations Directorate. Kevin Bostick, formerly director of AMC’s Logistics Integration Directorate, now serves as director of Current Operations. John Smith joined AMC as the director of the Logistics Integration Directorate, May 28; he previously served in Aviation and Missile Command as the director of the AMCOM Logistics Center.

Dr. Christopher Hill was promoted to Senior Level as the senior analyst for operations research, and director of the AMC Commander’s Analysis Group, part of AMC’s Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity, May 28. Laura Avery was appointed to the Senior Executive Service as assistant deputy chief of staff for Resource Management, G-8, and executive director of business, July 23. Both had been serving in those positions before the appointment.
