PORTLAND, Ore. – Guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill (CG 52) and littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6) arrived at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park to participate in the 110th Portland Rose Festival Fleet Week, today.
The ships join Coast Guard Cutter Alert (WMEC-630), Coast Guard Cutter Bluebell (WLI-313), and Royal Canadian Navy frigates HMCS Brandon (MM 710) and HMCS Edmonton (MM 703), which arrived June 7.
Throughout the week, Sailors have the opportunity to enjoy the City of Roses and attend premier events of the festival, including the famed Royal Rosarian Honorary Knighting, Grand Floral Parade, Cityfair, live music and entertainment, and various Navy-themed static displays.
Portland Fleet Week offers the public an opportunity to not only tour vessels but to meet Sailors as they showcase their ship's capabilities.
Navy warships have been visiting the city since USS Charleston's visit in 1907.
U.S. 3rd Fleet leads naval forces in the Pacific and provides the realistic, relevant training necessary for an effective global Navy.
