ALEXANDRIA, La. – After Hurricane Gustav, Ohio National Guard Soldiers arrived in Louisiana to assist in recovery efforts that were taking place across the state.

Maj. Gen. Gregory L. Wayt, adjutant general of the Ohio National Guard, stepped foot in Alexandria, La., on Sept. 7, 2008, along with Maj. Gen. Matthew L. Kambic, assistant adjutant general, to visit the 1,000 Ohio Guardsmen who volunteered their time and equipment to assist Louisiana during the clean-up process following Gustav.

The Ohio National Guardsmen are being housed at the 199th Leadership Regiments Intermediate Staging Base on England Air Park in Alexandria, La., until they take up operations in the affected areas. The ISB supports emergency operations by conducting in-bound and out-bound operations and oversight to Soldiers and equipment from other states.
