Staff Sgt. Michael Traver, a solider from the 2632nd and his unit begin to stage their vehicles at the armory. Not long after finishing their inactive duty training this past Sunday, he and his company were notified to return to their armory located in Sacramento, California. Soon after they would learn that they would be apart of joint effort between multiple local agencies to help support evacuees that had been re-located to the city of Chico due to the Oroville evacuation.
Traver and his team would be lending aid by way of delivering supplies and food to various shelter stations around the city.
“Most of the supplies we are moving are cots and blankets, we are ready to work around the clock to make sure that we’re able to get those supplies to those displaced by the evacuation, and get them what they need,” said Traver.
Staff Sgt. Jason Baker, also from the 2632nd Transportation Company was eager and ready to start helping.
“We’re here to help deliver supplies to those displaced by the evacuation and we are ready to support whatever is asked of us,” said Sgt. Baker.”
“Utilizing the Chico National Armory as a base of operations for our vehicles has enabled us to be able to provide a multitude of services, said Baker.”
“We have a lot to offer, anything from vehicle recovery, to personnel and cargo transports. We also have a mobile maintenance unit ready for our vehicles as well. Our vehicles can carry 200-250 cots per vehicle, whether we have to help transport people or supplies, we are prepared for whatever comes our way.”
