While assigned to Osan Air Base, Korea in 1982, an incentive flight on a KC-135 Stratotanker inspired Quasius to cross-train and become a boom operator. During his career, he flew on KC-135s and KC-10s and participated in Operations El Dorado Canyon, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Just Cause, and Iraqi Freedom. The biggest highlight was spending three years refueling the SR-71 Blackbird. Quasius used his education benefits to earn a master’s degree, and worked as a physical therapist at University of California Davis Medical Center. “If it wasn’t for the support I received from my co-workers and supervisors, I wouldn’t have been able to commit to the 70th Air Refueling Squadron and Air Force Reserve for so long, and I am forever grateful,” he said.
