ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. – Leaders from the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Command (CBRNE) presented an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) & Remediation Demonstration for APG stakeholders at the 20th CBRNE headquarters on April 28.

The purpose of the demonstration was to educate APG stakeholders on the current emergency response process and the proposed process in order to get the stakeholders’ feedback and, or alternate options.

As part of the demonstration, a team from the 55th Ordnance Company (EOD), out of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, performed how to properly recover and dispose an UXO.

According to 20th CBRNE officials, the tabletop exercise and demonstration showcased the roles of the different organizations involved in an emergency response including the installation operations center, fire department, range operations, safety, and the CBRNE Analytical and Remediation Activity (CARA) organization.

At the end of the day, the majority of the stakeholders stated they had a much better understanding and confidence in the process.
