AT-TAQADDUM, Iraq – Marines gathered to enjoy the Saloonatics' tribute to rock 'n' roll for service members on main side on May 10.

The band, from Los Angeles, performed for deployed troops in Kuwait and Iraq, May 3 to 13. They played popular songs from Rush, 3 Doors Down, Metallica and Journey, among others.

"I want to thank you for what you do for us and for having us here," said Sarah Bruni, the Saloonatics' lead singer, who is from Rochester, N.Y.

Cpl. Christopher Urrutia, from Calexico, Calif., who is a postal clerk with Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Marine Logistics Group, said the concert was a morale boosting event that helped Marines feel like they were back home.

After the concert, The Saloonatics talked to service members, signed autographs and posed for photos.

"I enjoyed (the concert) because it was something different, and they played a large variety of music, which was good," said Sgt. Jisela Melendez, from Los Angeles, who is the training chief, H&S Co., 1st MLG.
