FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive March 14 at his off-post residence in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Staff Sgt. Brian Michael Reed, 40, whose home of record is listed as Corpus Christi, Texas, entered active-duty service in August 2005 as an explosive ordnance disposal specialist. He was assigned to the 79th Ordnance Battalion, Fort Hood, since October 2015.

Reed deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2006 to September 2007 and in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from April 2011 to April 2012.

Reed's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation with valor, two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Iraq Campaign Medal with arrowhead device, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Senior Explosive Ordnance Badge, Explosive Ordnance Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge with wheeled vehicle.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.
