KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – The 212th Combat Support Hospital (CSH), 421st Multifunctional Medical Battalion (MMB) and 30th Medical Brigade (MED BDE) Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) conducted railhead operations moving 170 pieces of military equipment from Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Kaiserslautern, Germany to San Gregorio, Spain, in support of Trident Juncture 2015 in early October 2015.

Led by. Capt Matthew Veith, the Soldiers spent three days completing loading plans for the movement. Equipment had to be in serviceable condition and had to be loaded according to European travel regulations. Each container had to be braced from the front, back, and both sides to ensure secure movement. Being that this type of movement is not the norm for these our units, there was a learning process.

Veith was impressed by the tenacity and willpower of the Soldiers assigned to this mission.

“Watching everyone come together to complete our objective was a very humbling experience,” said Capt. Veith. “The overall dedication displayed by our Soldiers is a true testament to their character and the leadership of the 212th CSH, 421st MMB and 30th MED HHC.”

The 170 vehicles moved by the Soldiers was equipment that will be used for the 212th CSH to set up their hospital and provide real-world care for the NATO Soldiers placed in Spain for Trident Juncture 2015. The exercise, involving approximately 36,000 troops from over 30 Allied and Partner Nations in four separate training areas in three countries, will demonstrate NATO’s capability and capacity to meet present and future security challenges.

Once again, the Soldiers serving under 30th Medical Brigade have continued their interoperability with European Allies by providing real world care and training scenarios for Strong Europe Missions.
