Fode to be promoted to brigadier general

BISMARCK, N.D.— The North Dakota Army National Guard will promote Col. Robert A. Fode of Bismarck, to brigadier general Sunday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. during a ceremony at the Raymond J. Bohn Armory theater in Bismarck.

Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, North Dakota adjutant general, will preside over the ceremony.

Fode, a native of Mobridge, South Dakota, enlisted as motor transport operator in the South Dakota Army National Guard in 1978, later transferring to the North Dakota Army National Guard. In 1985 he attended the North Dakota Army National Guard’s Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers branch. Throughout his career, he has held various key leadership positions within the organization. Currently, Fode serves as the commander of the North Dakota National Guard’s Army Component.

A traditional Guardsman, Fode is employed as the Director for the Office of Project Development in the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
