EIB qualification week

More than 700 infantrymen from across 1st Armored Division tested to earn their Expert Infantry Badge during Aug. 3-7 on Fort Bliss, Texas.

Soldiers began by completing a physical fitness test to EIB standards and progressed through the week, receiving a ‘Go’ or ‘No-Go’ for completed tasks and training.

There were 60 infantrymen left after completing the 12-mile ruck, and the disassembly/ assembly and functions check of the M4 rifle.
In 1944, the EIB was initiated by the Army Chief of Staff.

One-hundred non-commissioned officers with the 100th Infantry Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, were selected to undergo three days of concentrated testing to determine the Army’s first Expert Infantryman.
