New leader to take command of AMC

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. – Air Mobility Command will change leaders Aug. 11 as Gen. Carlton D. Everhart II assumes command from Gen. Darren W. McDew during a 10 a.m. ceremony at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III will preside at the ceremony. AMC, headquartered at Scott AFB, is an Air Force major command that provides worldwide cargo and passenger delivery, air refueling and aeromedical evacuation.

Media members interested in attending the change of command ceremony should call (618) 229-7821 or email amc.pay.engagements@us.af.mil by noon Aug. 7. RSVPs must include each person’s full name, date of birth, and driver’s license number/state information in order to expedite entry requirements.

Attendees will be asked to arrive at the Scott Field Heritage Air Park parking lot no later than 9 a.m. Aug. 11. Anyone who arrives after 9:15 a.m. will not be permitted on base.
