Coast Guard Sector Baltimore holds change of command ceremony, receives new Captain of the Port

BALTIMORE — A Virginia Beach, Virginia, native assumed command of Coast Guard Sector Baltimore Friday during a change-of-command ceremony in Baltimore.

Capt. Kevin C. Kiefer, who has served as the sector commander since July 2013, was relieved by Capt. Lonnie P. Harrison Jr.

Harrison has dedicated more than 24 years of service to the Coast Guard, and his previous assignments include:

• Marine Safety Office New Orleans, Louisiana
• Marine Safety Office Tampa, Florida
• Coast Guard Cutter Alert, Cape May, New Jersey
• Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, D.C.
• Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Virginia
• Marine Safety Unit Savannah, Georgia

Harrison is a graduate of the Coast Guard Academy and Tulane University.

During his years of service, Harrison has been decorated with many awards, including two Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medals, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, a Coast Guard Achievement Medal and the Marine Safety Insignia.
