2nd MAW bids Robinson farewell, welcomes Thresher

CHERRY POINT, N.C. - Sgt. Maj. Christopher G. Robinson relinquished his post as 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Sergeant Major to Sgt. Maj. Richard D. Thresher during a relief and appointment ceremony here, June 4.

Robinson was the 2nd MAW Sergeant Major since his appointment in October 2012. He will continue his career at U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command Norfolk, Va.

"The Marines, Sailors, local community and families molded and shaped me in my journey and path in the Marine Corps,” said Robinson. “We accomplished some great and phenomenal things together.”

Thresher served with 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif., for three years prior to his assignment to Cherry Point.

“The Wing doesn't succeed or fail on the efforts of one individual,” said Thresher. “It is a team effort.”

According to Thresher, he wants to be a part of the team and maintain a constant state of readiness to support 2nd MAW’s operations.

“My job is simple,” said Thresher. “To aid the General in the preparation of the wing’s success in all of its operations.”

The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing bids farewell to Sgt. Maj. Robinson and proudly welcomes Sgt. Maj. Thresher.
