OKINAWA, Japan - Joint Task Force 505 continues conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in Nepal.

As of May 19, JTF 505 helicopter and tiltrotor assets have flown 134 sorties and delivered 220,000 pounds of supplies to those in need, to include plastic sheeting, shelter kits, blankets, water, medical supplies, and supplemental and emergency food.

“You and your fellow Marines brothers and sisters came to us in a time when we were down,” wrote Amrit Sharma, an appreciative Nepalese native, in an open letter to the Marine Corps. “Thank you for what you do, and sacrificing so much your own country and for us with Operation Sahayogi Haat in Nepal.”

Yesterday alone approximately 17,700 pounds of relief supplies were delivered to the people of Nepal.

The current fleet of capabilities deployed to Nepal includes the 36th Contingency Response Group, U.S. Marine UH-1Y Hueys, MV-22B Ospreys, KC-130J Hercules, U.S. Air Force C-130Hs, and C-17 Globemaster III aircraft, as well as various ground and aviation command and control assets.
