JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. - Staff Sgt. Matthew Carpenter, son of Richard and Cheryl Barham of Lyons, N.Y., recently was named the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center Noncommissioned officer of the Year at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.

Carpenter, 423rd Mobility Training Squadron Qualification Training Packages non-commissioned officer in charge, was awarded for his outstanding contributions to the USAF EC mission during 2014.
The U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center is the Air Force's Center of Excellence for advanced mobility and expeditionary combat support training and education. The unit also provides direct oversight of airfields, installation support functions, contingency response forces, and international partner capacity building mission sets around the world.

Carpenter, who is married to Casey L. Carpenter, is a 2005 graduate of Sodus High School in Sodus, N.Y.
