KABUL, Afghanistan – International Security Assistance Force Commander Gen. Dan McNeill met with Portuguese Minister of Defense Severiano Teixeira and Chief of Defense Luis Vasco Valencia Pinto on the ISAF compound in Kabul, Afghanistan, Dec. 29.

The officials talked about the Portuguese troops and their contribution to the ISAF alliance. The Portuguese government representatives also met with President Hamid Karzai, the Afghan Minister of Defense Gen. Abdul Wardak, and visited with Portuguese troops on ISAF.

Portugal has approximately 150 troops in ISAF, mostly in Regional Command Capital. The ISAF mission is carried out by 39 nations consisting of approximately 41,000 troops.
