Nilsson retires following 30 years of service

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. - Sgt. Maj. Lisa K. Nilsson retired from her post as sergeant major of Marine Air Control Group 28 during a retirement ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Oct. 17.

Nilsson served as sergeant major of MACG-28, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Forward and was the command inspector general sergeant major from April 2011 – October 2014.

“Many of the Marines standing before you were deployed with me at some point,” said Nilsson to her guests. “If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be who I am today because they continue to teach me something every day. I want to truly thank everyone for coming out here; this has been an awesome end to my career.”
