Commander, 3rd Air Force visits NMCB 133 Detail Niger

NIAMEY, Niger — Lt. Gen. Darryl Roberson, commander of the 3rd Air Force and 17th Expeditionary Air Force, along with Command Chief, Chief Master Sgt. Mark Marson, paid a visit to the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 Detail Niger’s warehouse renovation job site.

Both Lt. Gen. Roberson and Chief Master Sgt. Marson were extremely pleased at the work NMCB 133 has completed.

“I am very proud of the Seabees accomplishments thus far in the deployment,” Roberson stated. “The Seabees are a huge contribution to the fight.”

Project supervisor Builder 1st Class Victoria McReynolds briefed the general on the status of the project. When asked what her biggest challenge has been, she responded with a simple, “materials, sir.”

McReynolds spoke about the logistical issues the detail has had procuring quality materials in a third-world country and how they have overcome this challenge. She was recognized by the Roberson and Air Force personnel for her brief.

All the Seabees were given heartfelt thanks for their efforts and a “thumbs up” from Roberson. Although Roberson has spent his career with the Air Force, he is very familiar with the Navy, as his father was a retired senior chief petty officer. He told the Seabees his father is the main reason for his success thus far in the Air Force.

The warehouse renovation project includes the construction of two 860 square foot office spaces, fully insulated with electrical connections and air conditioning units, in support of the Department of Defense Security Training and Assessment Team (DOD-STAT).
