SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – This week’s U.S. Army Central Soldier Spotlight is Sgt. Maritess M. Bell, chaplain assistant for Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion.
Bell is a native of the Philippines but considers Hawaii her home. She joined the Army January 2004 and is married with two daughters.
Q. What are your hobbies?
A. I enjoy hiking, playing with my kids, and fixing/rebuilding classic cars with my husband.
Q. What do you enjoy doing most during your free time?
A. During my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family.
Q. What is your long-term professional goal?
A. My long-term professional goal is to complete my degree in mechanical engineering
Q. When did you make the decision to become a Soldier and why?
A.I decided to become a Soldier after 9-11, I wanted to serve as well as help our country.
Q. If you could take a vacation to a location of your choice, where would you go?
A. If I could take a vacation to a location of my choice, I would visit Italy or take a Caribbean cruise.
Q. What do you enjoy most about being a Soldier?
A. I enjoy helping fellow Soldiers with their needs, problems and issues.
Q. If you could change one thing about the Army, what would you change and why?
A. I would eliminate the physical training reflective belt because the PT uniform is designed to be reflective.
