FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. - Fallen 28th Infantry Division aviator Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jarett M. Yoder was honored July 18, 2014, with a ceremony in Berks County, Pennsylvania, where a stretch of Route 622 was dedicated by Sen. Judy Schwank and named the "Chief Warrant Officer-2 Jarett M. Yoder Highway."
Yoder, a pilot with Pennsylvania National Guard's 28th Combat Aviation Brigade and assigned to 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 104th Aviation Regiment, died April 9, 2013, when his AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed in Pachir Wa Agam district, Afghanistan.
Due to the community’s work and Schwank's legislative efforts, this tribute honoring a fallen soldier shows that our members and their families' sacrifices do not go unnoticed.
Schwank, National Guard members, local emergency responders, Yoder's family and other public officials gathered for the ceremony at Reuben Strauss Park in Ruscombmanor Township.
"We hope that it serves as a testament to his sacrifice and serves as a place of honor where Jarrett will always be remembered," said Schwank.
Diane Yoder, Chief Yoder's mother, said that she was overwhelmed by all of the support that she has received from the community prior to unveiling the commemorative sign with Heather Yoder, Chief Yoder's wife.
