AF ROTC Detachment 218 holds change of command ceremony at Hulman Airfield

HULMAN FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Ind. — Indiana State University Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps will be at the 181st Intelligence Wing for a detachment change of command ceremony Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

“These cadets are the future of the Air Force and we want to do all we can to ensure they are ready for the future,” stated Col Patrick Renwick, 181 IW vice wing commander. “We are always looking for qualified men and women to join the Air National Guard down the road!”

The 181st Intelligence Wing hosts the change of command ceremony twice a year in addition to mentoring cadets on AF jobs and their roles as future officers.

“As members of the Air National Guard and the local community it is important for our Wing to provide facilities whenever we are allowed,” stated Renwick. “We always ensure the taxpayers’ money is well spent here at the Wing.”

AF ROTC Detachment 218 is headed by ISU, but has cross town cadets from Rose Hulman institute of technology, DePauw University, and Ivy Tech Students in Terre Haute.

The ceremony will feature Cadet Wing Commander Caleb Drake passing command to Cadet Joshua Hood. In an AF ROTC detachment Cadets are put in a command structure meaning that Cadets run like an operational military base, including roles such as officers, noncommissioned officers, and airmen.
