RUKLA, Lithuania – Paratroopers with Troop A, 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, arrived in Rukla, Lithuania, June 24 from their home station in Grafenwoehr, Germany, to train along NATO allies during unscheduled land-NATO training exercises.
The 91st will spend the next couple of months training throughout Lithuania and conducting combined training exercises, to include live-fire exercises and airborne operations with the Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Training Battalion.
Approximately 600 paratroopers from the brigade are in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland as part of an unscheduled land-forces exercise to demonstrate commitment to NATO obligations and sustain interoperability with allied forces.
“We seek to train with multiple units throughout the area and grow our partnership as much as we can,” said 1st Lt. Aaron Greer, a paratrooper serving as the executive officer for Troop A during their time here.
Paratroopers with the squadron will also have the opportunity to train with other NATO forces as part of a continued effort to strengthen interoperability and ensure regional stability throughout the Baltic states.
“I’m new to this unit and I look forward to doing my job as a cavalry scout,” said Pvt. Mark Jordan, a paratrooper with Troop A. “This is a new experience and I look forward to working with other nations and seeing how they operate.”
Troop A replaced paratroopers from 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, who have been training with Lithuanian Land Forces of the Iron Wolf Brigade and other NATO forces since their arrival in April.
