Field meet gathers CLR-25 for competition, fun

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Shouts rang out across the field of battle - encouragement for each service member to go faster, push harder. The calls echoed as the competition between opposing units waged on in the morning chill.

Marines and sailors with Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2nd Marine Logistics Group gathered around the chaos during the regiment’s field meet here, April 16. Five teams from within CLR-25 competed in events ranging from tug-of-war and softball to flag football.

“The regimental leadership wanted to expand and develop more camaraderie and teambuilding skills we’re known to have as Marines and sailors,” said 1st Lt. Christopher McDade, a native of Abington, Pa., and regimental plans officer with CLR-25. “We have a few things going on this month before the start of the summer months, when a lot of the marines and sailors from the regiment begin to move out, and we wanted to get it done before it gets too warm.”

Whether playing against other units or showing support from the sidelines, sever members from the regiment’s teams battled it out for nearly eight hours.

The units earned points during each event. Every team claimed first in at least one challenge, but 2nd Supply Battalion finally came out on top with 36 points, followed closely by 2nd Maintenance Battalion with 34 point.

The regiment met again directly following the field meet for an afternoon fish fry to celebrate teamwork and enjoy a meal as a unit.
