PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan—Two insurgents were killed and two others were injured during a clearing operation in Nangahar province’s Boti Kot district on Tuesday.

Commandos from the 1st Special Operations Kandak, advised by Coalition Forces, conducted clearing operations to disrupt insurgent activity and bring peace to the region in Wazghar village.

The combined forces were attacked by small arms fire, machine gun fire and rocket propelled grenades from multiple insurgent positions while moving through the village.

The Commandos returned fire on insurgent fighting positions, killing two insurgents and wounding two others.

Afghan National Army Commandos are an elite group capable of conducting high-risk missions in remote areas known to be enemy strong holds. These missions assist national and local police in their efforts to increase security, governance and development.
