KABUL, Afghanistan - Two ISAF soldiers were killed and several others wounded in two separate improvised explosive device incidents in southern Afghanistan today.

"The scourge of IED strikes is an ongoing menace not only for ISAF troops but for the Afghan people who face it on a daily basis. By its very nature, the laying of IEDs, with the intention to kill and maim, is a cowardly and criminal act, and the Afghan security forces, aided by ISAF, will continue to reduce its threat," said Sqn Ldr Mat Best, a spokesperson for Regional Command South. "Our thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues of those who have died or been injured in these tragic circumstances."

In accordance with ISAF policy, ISAF does not release the casualties' nationality prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
