Arctic Dragons return to families, friends

HEADQUARTERS, U.S. ARMY ALASKA, JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska – U.S. Army Alaska welcomed home more than 100 Arctic Dragon soldiers from the 95th Chemical Company March 11 at the Buckner Physical Fitness Center on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

The 95th deployed to Kuwait and Jordan in June 2013, where the soldiers undertook multiple missions. They served as the chemical quick reaction force for the Middle East, trained the Kuwaiti Army, and conducted chemical reconnaissance, response and provided decontamination assets as needed. They also sent one platoon to train the Jordanian army on proper chemical, biological and nuclear response procedures and techniques.

The company is part of the 2nd Engineer Brigade’s 6th Engineer Battalion. The returning soldiers were reunited with their friends and family at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
