CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - The 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) recognized a base employee for her continued contributions to the MEU at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Feb. 5, 2013.
Robin Burleson, the base passport agent, supported the MEU by assisting it with passport applications in preparation for the unit’s deployment.
“I do what we call no-fee passports for the base,” said Burleson. “No-fee passports are processed for travelers who are on official orders to countries that require this type of passport to enter.”
Burleson estimates she put more than 100 hours into supporting the MEU.
“I was very proud and honored to help them in any way I could,” she added. “I also appreciate their returned hard work and dedication. I could not have done it without the support and cooperation of the MEU’s (staff judge advocate) office.”
“She really went above and beyond,” said Cpl. Shawn Ponterio, 22nd MEU legal clerk and native of Stafford, Va. “We couldn't have processed all of these passports without her.”
The MEU deployed Feb. 7 to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
