SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – This week’s U.S. Army Central Soldier Spotlight is Sgt. Roberto J. Erazo, human resource specialist, strategies and effects directorate. Erazo is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico. He joined the Army April 7, 2006.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I'm also a motorcycle rider so that’s definitely one of my hobbies.

Q: What do you enjoy doing most during your free time?

A: I enjoy cooking.

Q: What are your short/long term professional goals?

A: My short term goal is to become a staff sergeant. My long term goal is to finish my bachelor’s degree in human resources management and submit my warrant officer candidate packet.

Q: When did you make the decision to become a soldier and why?

A: In January 2006 I was catering my uncle's house party and I wanted to know what he did for a living, because I’ve always admired his success. He told me that he was a chief warrant officer three in the U.S. Army. I immediately told him that I wanted to join the Army. So, he called a friend, then a recruiter showed up at my house the next day and here I am.

Q: If you could take a vacation to a location of your choice, where would you go?

A: London.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being a soldier?

A: I enjoy the adventure of traveling; I move to a different location every three years. I have deployed a couple of times and I have been temporarily assigned to places that I would have never gone as a civilian.

Q: If you could change one thing about the Army, what would you change and why?

A: I wouldn’t change a thing. If I didn’t like it, I wouldn't be in.

Q: If you could hold a different position in USARCENT, for one day, what position would you choose?

A: I would keep my position as a human resources specialist.
