PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced an 87-year-old woman Monday from a cruise ship approximately 38 miles east of Ocracoke, N.C.<br /> <br /> Personnel aboard the 1,068-foot cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway notified watchstanders at the Fifth District Command Center at approximately 11:30 a.m., stating the woman was is medical distress.<br /> <br /> Coast Guard watchstanders launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and a flight surgeon from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C.<br /> <br /> The Coast Guard hoisted the woman and transferred her care to awaiting medical personnel at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C.<br /> <br /> The woman was in stable condition.
