PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghan commandos killed two insurgents and detained two during a clearing operation in Kapisa province’s Nejrab district that ended Dec. 16.
Commandos of the 6th Special Operations Kandak were clearing Asafkhel village when a number of armed insurgents attacked them using small-arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades and machine-gun fire.
The commandos immediately returned fire overpowering the enemy fighters, killing two of the attackers and detaining two.
The commandos also found a small weapons cache of two AK-47 assault rifles, ammunition vests and multiple grenades.
Successful missions conducted by commandos demonstrate their commitment to an Afghanistan free of insurgents. By taking the responsibility for a secure Afghanistan into their own hands, they continue to make progress and retain hard-won gains.
Those detained are in custody of the province’s National Directorate of Security. There were no reports of civilian casualties or structural damage during this operation.
