WARDAK PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Mohammad Agha district Afghan Local Police discovered a weapons cache Dec. 12 during a presence patrol near the Durwo village.

ALP found four 82 mm mortar rounds, more than 500 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition, three fuses, and one anti-personnel mine.

In the past, insurgents used buildings in the village as bed down locations and to store their weapons, ammunition and explosives, said the district’s ALP commander.

ALP also found several abandoned compounds containing multiple false walls indicating insurgents had been there and have most likely fled the area.
