FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died Nov. 20 in Tucson, Ariz., from an apparent gunshot wound.

Pfc. Marty Maiden, 20, whose home of record is listed as Tucson, Ariz., entered active-duty service in July 2012 as a M1 Abrams tank system maintainer. He was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since March 2013.

Maiden deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in July 2013 and was home on emergency leave when the incident occurred.

Maiden's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and NATO Medal.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.
