Job Title: Fixed-wing aircraft powerplant mechanic
Unit: Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14
Age: 25
Hometown: Bremerton, Wash.
DATE JOINED: AUG. 1, 2010

Lance Cpl. Alex W. Hudson joined the Marine Corps in August 2010 as a fixed-wing aircraft power plant mechanic, and is now also the collateral duty inspector for Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14.

“We build motors, but I also go around inspecting the different crews, making sure they are doing everything by the book and the correct way,” said Hudson. “The challenge is getting all this done in a timely fashion.”

Hudson enjoys the challenge. He looks forward to the opportunity to deploy and test his skills in a much quicker tempo of a deployed environment.

“The job is important to me because I wanted to be able to support the boots on the ground, and this job guarantees that,” said Hudson.

“Hard work and ambition are the keys to success,” said the Bremerton, Wash., native. “Keep yourself calm, don’t get overwhelmed and make sure everything is done.”

Hudson’s superior work ethic helps him to excel in all aspects of his job.

“THE BEST PART OF THE JOB IS KNOWING THE MOTORS I BUILT OR HAVE PASSED IN AN INSPECTION ARE UP THERE ACTUALLY BEING USED,” HE SAID.
