CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan - The Afghan National Army received the largest transfer of medical materials during Operation Enduring Freedom from Combat Logistics Regiment 2, Regional Command (Southwest), here, Oct. 26 – 28.
The ANA 215th Corps received $340,000 in supplies transferred from International Security Assistance Forces for use in a new emergency services capability within Helmand province. The ISAF training force, comprised of a U.S. Navy Corpsmen, British medic and two ANA medics, plan to have the ANA trained and emergency services ready by the start of 2014.
“This took months to prepare for and coordinate movements,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Samantha Bush, CLR-2 medical supply manager. “They were very taken and happy to receive the gear. They had quite a few questions and were very excited.”
The supply turnover and subsequent training took months to prepare for and the ANA, currently in training, will graduate at the end of this year, Bush added.
The Afghan National Security Forces have taken the lead in security operations in Helmand province and around Afghanistan. The emergency medical services will continue the transition toward self-sufficiency for ANSF throughout the province and the country.
