Soldier of the Week: Spc. Liam P. Kelly

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – This week’s U.S. Army Central Soldier of the Week is Spc. Liam P. Kelly, a civil affairs specialist with the U.S. Army Central Strategy and Effects.

Kelly is serving a nine-month tour in Kuwait attached to U.S. Army Central, out of Fort Meade, Md. with the 352d Civil Affairs Command. He is a native of Alexandria, Va., and has served in the U.S. Army for four years.

“I joined the military because I wanted to experience new things and see the world,” said Kelly.

Q: What is your favorite movie genre?
A: Comedy. I love seeing movies that make me laugh.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Steak.
Q: What are your goals?
A: My goals are to finish my associate’s degree within the next year and finish jump school when I return from this deployment.
Q: What are you most proud of?
A: I am proud of the fact that I have become a manager in my field.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I love to work on cars and engines. I am very mechanically inclined.
Q: If you could spend one hour with anyone, who would it be and why?
A: I would pick the comedian Dave Chappelle, because I think he is funny and it would be a fun experience.
