FORT STEWART, Ga. - First Sgt. Brett Creeley has been responsible for the soldiers of Headquarters Support Company, Division Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, for the past 27 months. During a change of responsibility ceremony, Oct. 18, that responsibility was transferred to 1st Sgt. James Hall.
During the Division’s most recent deployment to Afghanistan, Creeley served as the Rear Detachment command sergeant major – a position he was carefully selected for by Division Command Sgt. Maj. Edd Watson.
“I can tell you that 1st Sgt. Creeley has pulled a heavy load,” Watson said. “And that heavy load was not deploying this last summer. 1st Sgt. Creeley stayed back here and served as the Rear Detachment command Sgt. Maj. That is a tough job.”
As the Army begins its transition from a deploying force to garrison operations, Watson is excited about the next chapter of HSC under the watchful eye of Hall.
“With the background of the National Training Center, coming out of there as an observer controller, and the background coming out of a cavalry squadron I expect him to bring a lot to the fight,” proclaimed Watson. “Not only ability of how to train and the methodology of how to train, but how to lead soldiers. So with those skillsets he has a great platform to catapult from to bring the soldiers as we transition into getting soldiers back out to the very basics of field craft.”
Hall, the former 1st Sgt. of Company B, 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, expressed his excitement to be the new HSC 1st Sgt.
“I look forward to serving alongside Capt. (Lavone) Bradshaw, (HSC commander), and enhancing the proficiency of Headhunter Company,” Hall said.
“I’m going to get down to the nitty gritty,” explained Hall when asked about his plans for the future of the company. “With the resources and soldiers, and experience that I do have, there’s no challenge that’s too great for me to handle.”
