DEVENS, Mass. – A wreath-laying ceremony is scheduled at the Fort Devens Post Cemetery on Patton Road in Devens, Mass. on Dec. 13 at 10 a.m., which is hosted by Lt. Col. Steven Egan, the garrison commander for Fort Devens.

In order to be a part of the experience, Egan is offering the public an opportunity to sponsor a wreath, from the Wreaths Across America organization which will be placed on a Veteran’s grave during the ceremony.

Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization which allows individuals to purchase wreaths for Veteran graves across the nation. Ceremonies like this are used to help communicate to the public how important it is to remember our Veterans, to honor those who serve, and to teach future generations about the value of freedom.

The website to sponsor a wreath is http://give.wreathsacrossamerica.org/site/TR?fr_id=1434&pg=entry.

Once the orders are placed and the total number purchased are received just prior to the date of the ceremony, then the wreaths are shipped directly to the Fort Devens Supply facility for temporary storage and held there until the day of the ceremony. On the day of the ceremony, the wreaths will be transported to the Fort Devens Post Cemetery for placement on a veteran’s grave.
