Race Legal slated to speed air show to success

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. – Race Legal is one of the many new additions slated to be featured at the Miramar Air Show, aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Oct. 4 and 5.

Race Legal is set to host one-eighth mile drag races directly on the flight line on both days of the air show. Members of the community are invited to register and bring their own cars and motorcycles to race down the air strip.

Many different types of cars are expected to participate in the races aboard the air station, showing San Diego what Race Legal is all about.

“We’re incredibly excited,” said Alexander Valle-Cervantes, managing director for Race Legal. “It’s a huge thumbs-up for us. It’s an event that we’ve never done before and we’re really proud to bring it to San Diego and be part of the air show.”

Race Legal is an alternative to illegal street racing, allowing car enthusiasts to show-off their automotive style in a safe environment. Race Legal began with a goal to prevent deaths caused by irresponsible automobile racing, so they are thrilled to spread the word about their organization, explained Valle-Cervantes.

“We have a lot to bring to the table,” said Valle-Cervantes. “We’re very fortunate to be a part of the air show. We welcome any car: exotic, daily-driver or grocery-getter. They’re all welcomed here.”

Race Legal is set to hold semi-final races on Oct. 4 and final races on Oct. 5, open to anyone interested in registering.

“I encourage everybody to come out and participate,” said Valle-Cervantes. “I love going to the air show and the fact that we’re having drag races there makes it even better.”

To register to race, visit RaceLegal.com to see racing requirements and to pay for a one-day or two-day pass. Racers will be required to have a valid driver’s license and registration for any vehicle not brought in by trailer. Also, vehicles will have to pass an inspection before racing.
