WASHINGTON - Immediately after receiving a report of an active shooter at the Washington Navy Yard (WNY), Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), instituted additional security measures, including temporarily securing the installation.

Located across the river from WNY, JBAB, like all military bases, has a robust active shooter plan of action, which is exercised often to ensure security and other emergency personnel remained well trained.

Until the situation at the Navy Yard is secured, JBAB remains temporarily secured, with its entrance gates closed and personnel on the base sheltering in place, according to the JBAB Commander, Navy Capt. Anthony T. Calandra.
