CAMP DWYER, Afghanistan - It’s been nearly three weeks of intense, round-the-clock construction efforts for the Marines here.
Buffeted by regular sand storms and intense heat, a platoon of engineers with Engineer Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, Regional Command (Southwest), reassembled after a twelve-hour shift to acknowledge the commitment of one of their own.
First Lt. Ryan McGrail, a Glen Burnie, Md., native and platoon commander with the company, stood before his sand-covered Marines and once more recited his oath of office during his promotion ceremony Aug. 13.
McGrail attended Officer Candidate School, and he accepted his commission as a Marine Corps officer on Aug. 13, 2011. His military schools include Sapper Leaders Course and the Basic School for officers.
He recently deployed with CLR-2 in July to support combat logistics operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
