OSHKOSH, Wis. - A powerful documentary about the first honor flight to take Vietnam veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the Vietnam Memorial Wall and and other sites honoring their service and sacrifice. See the wall through their eyes of the never forgotten.
This summer for the first time, Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight brought a group of Vietnam veterans to our nation’s capitol. This special, one-time flight commemorates the 40th anniversary of the end of hostilities in Vietnam and will give 110 Wisconsin veterans the opportunity to visit the powerful Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and other sites honoring their service and sacrifice.
Oshkosh’s Experimental Aircraft Association hosted the flight on Friday, August 2, during AirVenture 2013 as part of the Salute to Veterans activities. When they return to the EAA grounds the veterans will be met by family, friends, actor Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band, long with approximately 15,000 people waiting for their return.
Tech Sgt. Chris Hibben from the 4th Combat Camera Squadron donated his talents and time to shoot, edit and produce a half hour documentary about this flight of Vietnam veterans. Hibben is a reservist and during his day job owns a TV production company in Oshkosh, Wis. This is his second documentary about the Honor Flight system and is proud to be able to tell the stories of the brave veterans that served our country.
The show will air Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. CT on ABC affiliate WBAY TV-2. It will also be streamed live the same time on www.wbay.com
