FARGO, N.D. - A 14K Fallen Soldiers Walk/Run will take place in Devils Lake, N.D., Saturday to honor the 14 North Dakota National Guard soldiers who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Global War on Terrorism. <br /> <br /> Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22 at Quentin N. Burdick Sports Arena on Highway 20 North in Devils Lake. The event begins a half-hour later as walkers and runners make their way down College Drive South. A marker at every kilometer will honor a fallen North Dakota Guardsman. The route ends at the Edwards House at Camp Grafton Training Center. Participants will be bused back to Burdick Arena. <br /> <br /> Registration costs $25 per participant or $60 for a family of three or more, and all proceeds will go to the North Dakota Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, or TAPS, which supports the national TAPS initiative to provide services to those who have lost a loved one serving in the Armed Forces. All participants receive a T-shirt. <br /> <br /> Last year, a 12K honored the first 12 North Dakota Guardsmen who died serving in the Global War on Terrorism: Spc. Jon Fettig, Staff Sgt. Kenneth Hendrickson, Sgt. Keith Smette, Spc. Philip Brown, Spc. James Holmes, Staff Sgt. Lance Koenig, Spc. Cody Wentz, Spc. Michael Hermanson, Sgt. Travis Van Zoest, Cpl. Curtis Mehrer, Cpl. Nathan Goodiron and Cpl. Christopher Kleinwachter. After losing two more Guardsmen in December - Sgt. 1st Class Darren Linde and Spc.
